Ooty Hidden Valley Jungle Camp Jeep Drive Experience
It is about 18 KM from Rolston office. To reach camp location only Jeep or Four Wheel drive is recommended. The car or other vehicle will go upto Ebbanad. You have to park the car and after that either you have to trek or use Four Wheel drive to reach the camp. At that time your reach camp bungalow you will feel like finished Ooty Wildlife Safari but it is not.
On the way to Ebbanad
I have started my Jeep from Ooty Hidden Valley Jungle Camp Office at 9.30 AM. I took left at St.Stephen’s Church and started to drive my Jeep. I have crossed Anikorai, Thoraihatty. And I gave a drive break on the Ketharai River Bridge. During season time you can see water flowing under the bridge and notice a small water fall near here. Till now I have drove around 15 KM from Ooty.
I took 10 mins break to enjoy the small Ketharai River. I have started my Jeep to drive towards Ooty Hidden Valley Jungle Camp, Ebbanad.
In few minutes I have crossed two sharp hairpin bends and reached village. Ebbanadu village board.
When you come by car you have to park in this village. I continue to drive my Jeep from this village. From here it is trail road. I have to go in second gear.
I have reached the place called Irruttu Sholai. This area is surrounded with very very old trees and bushes. And also it will be very dark during day time also. Hence it is called with this name. The turn to reach Beeramukku temple foot hill is very challenge. So I need to stop the Jeep, change to First Gear and started my drive.A picture in Beeramukku Foot Hill
I worship Beeramukku lord for few minutes and started my Jeep. This is the first bend crossed. This road is really tough to drive. You need to have experienced really. I hold the steering tight to make sure the drive smooth. The road will be slippery following the rain.
I am driving inside the Ooty Hidden Valley Jungle Camp. Here the road is bit straight and expect multiple hairpin bend.
Following the many hairpin bends and beautiful views I am about to reach camp bungalow.
I have reached Ooty Hidden Valley Jungle Camp. If you visit camp accommodation will be given in 150 years old British era Bungalow set inside Private Forest. No electricity, No TV, No Radio. The hurricane lamp-lit night will take you back to the 18th-century Jungle surrounded by dales and downs.
